Namal pledges to protect dignity of armed forces

Colombo, August 27 (Daily Mirror)- A future Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) government will protect the dignity of the armed froces, SLPP Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa said today.

Speaking at a rally in Galgamuwa, he said steps will be taken to ensure welfare facilities and resolve issues regarding their pensions.

Rajapaksa said an SLPP government will follow the agricultural policy of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

"I will follow the agriculture poliocy of Mahinda Rajapaksa. We will provide a fertiliser subsidiary and new technology to young farmers," he said.

Rajapaksa said some parties have prepared their policy manifestos merely to win the election.

"We will promise only plausible things," he said.

He says future SLPP government will protect the dignity of the armed forces! So you accept that in the past your government did not protect the dignity! SLPP and your family was in power when farmers did not have fertilizer to cultivate. Where were you then? Welfare facilities? When your Family was in power you ensured the welfare of your families and your supporters in parliament. It is better for you to go around and apologies to the people on election platforms for the past sins your government did when in power.

Far thinking policies to return to an agriculture based economy like back in ancient times is the way to go rather than an import-dependant economy. SL is an island with incredibly fertile soil and experts have highly advanced knowledge in agricultural practices. Yet, people are too lazy and want quick fixes, always blaming the government for their hardships. Over-consumption leads to shortages which compells a government to import goods to balance prices and meet consumer demands. So turn off the stupid TV shows, go outside and start growing your own food. Thank me later!
