Namal vows to end fraud, corruption within three years

Colombo, September 2 (Daily Mirror)- Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa today pledged to wipe out fraud and corruption within three years under his government.

Speaking at the ceremony to launch his election manifesto, Rajapaksa said fraud and corruption could be eradicated through digitalisation, introducing competitive bidding for government procurement processes and converting the 'gray economy' into a 'white economy'.

He said an SLPP government will digitalise state services and issue the planned digital Identity Card within the first six months in office, adding that it could be a solution to most of the problems in the country and help end the era of queues.

Rajapaksa also said competitive bidding procedures will be introduced for procurement processes and tender procedures while bringing all economic activities into the banking system (converting 'gray economy' into 'white economy').

"All these actions will help wipe out the slogan of ending fraud and corruption from the election stage within three years," he said.
