National Medicines Regulatory Authority gets new CEO

COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - Senior Scientist D D Bulathsinhala has been appointed as the new CEO of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA), Daily Mirror learns.

Bulathsinhala who replaces Dr. Vijith Gunasekera has been appointed on a temporary basis.

This was officially announced at the board meeting held at the NMRA headquarters last morning (08) under the chairmanship of Dr Ananda Wijewickrama.

The meeting saw the participation of nine board members including Director General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardena and Attorney-at-law Manoj Gamage.

The outgoing CEO Dr. Vijith Gunasekera has been transferred to the Health Ministry against whom an array of allegations were levelled in the recent past over the influx of inferior-quality medicines.

Bulathsinhala is member the Sri Lanka Scientific Service and the acting director of National Medicines Quality Assurance Laboratory (NMQAL)

If traces of the infection and the viruses that the outgoing officers had have been left the present team too could be infected unless the place was fumigated before the new team too occupation

We are most keen to know whether there is no action initiated against the former corrupt Officials of NMRA ! Merely transferring them is unacceptable.

If the actions will be taken against corruption is not ,swift and transparent, people accuse you too are a collaborator,,whole country watching carefully ,what would be your reaction to case against the IT officer who rubbed NMRA database, to all corrupt officials and ex ministe
