Puthalam ,July 18 ( Daily Mirror ) -The Sri Lanka Navy yesterday recovered a consignment of dried turmeric while attempting to be smuggled into the country via sea routes.

They said the 778 kgs of dried turmeric was recovered following a search operation conducted in the beach area from Wellamundalama to Kolankanaththa in Puttalam last evening.

The Sri Lanka Navy remains alert and conducts patrols and search operations in the coastal areas of the island to prevent the influx of illegal items.

The haul of dried turmeric has been kept in the custody of the Navy until an investigation into the incident gets underway.
