‘Nekath Seettuwa’ for New Year presented to President

Colombo, April 10 (Daily Mirror) - Following customs and traditions, the ‘Nekath Seettuwa’, the table of auspicious times for this year’s Sinhala and Tamil New Year, was presented to President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat today.

The table of auspicious times, duly prepared by the State Astrologers' Committee of the Department of Cultural Affairs, was presented to the President.

Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickremanayake presented the ‘Nekath Seettuwa’ to the President in accordance with traditional customs.

Auspicious periods comprise of various timings such as the New Year’s Eve, Punya Kaalaya or inauspicious time, timings for cooking, working, eating, anointing, setting off for work and more.

On one hand I am happy we continue to follow traditions but on the hand we don't see collectively as a Nation to become a developed country in word and deed, treat all beings equally, be independent with a neutral foreign policy and gain the respect of all nations by being self reliant.

You Hit the NAIL right on the HEAD!!??? NO Questions asked or Doubts Unanswered!!!??? Historically, astrologers were of the kind, trekking from Village to Village and Town to Town, with House to house visit to inquire into the citizens well-being and proffering astrological advise to Citizens and Families to overcome their Concerns in matters of Life and Spirits - Not of the alcoholic variety but heavenly and Spiritual-Materialistic Combo!!??? Since, the famous astrologer from (Galle, if not mistaken to guide our President) in 2015 to Power and failed, a committee has been appointed (instead of an individual), elevating it to "A PROFESSIONAL BODY" to advise the Governance in this country!!?? Who pays??? Government Expenditure is “willy-nilly” WASTED?? Whilst, INTEREST ACCRUES on “UNPAID” OUTSTANDING LOANS!? What Dance, Song???
