New Zealand qualify for T20 World Cup semis

New Zealand booked their place in the semi-finals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022, after Australia were restricted to 168/8 in their 20 overs against Afghanistan a short while ago.

Australia needed a 180-run magin of victory against Afghanistan to overtake New Zealand on net run rate, but being unable to do so, remain in wait for the result of Sri Lanka's final Super 12 match against England tomorrow -- if they successfully defend their total against Afghanistan.

New Zealand beat Ireland by 35 runs earlier today, finishing their Super 12 matches with a net run rate of +2.113, well ahead of currently second placed England, who have a net run rate of +0.547.
