A new and upgraded railway line up to Anuradhapura and Mihintale junctions will be inaugurated today, the Transport Ministry said.

They said the railway line was constructed under an Indian loan assistance and will be inaugurated by Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardana.

We must be proud of this achievement? That too with Indian assistance. In 75 years we were able to only add this segment to the Lanka rail network. On the other hand, several parts of the rail network which were operational at the time of independence does not exist anymore.
