No-confidence motion on Speaker handed over

The no-confidence motion on Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena was handed over to Deputy Secretary General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne a short while ago.

It was handed over by Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella, MPs Ranjith Madduma Bandara and Professor G.L. Peiris.

Some 41 MPs have signed the motion.

Those who handed over No Confidence motion against the speaker should be confident of themselves that they will be able to step in to parliament after the election are over.

Th rough out successive parliaments in Govts from 1966 Speaker is a respected personby both Govt. and equally opposition. Except for one incident in the history of Sri Lanka.Even if a speaker is a one side man it is not a good thing to bring a NCM. bcos this practice will be followed in future Govts.
