No cut on allowance paid to kidney patients: Government



Colombo, January 2 (2025)- Refuting reports of moves to stop the allowance paid to kidney patients, the government said today that the allowance paid to kidney patients will be increased to Rs. 10,000.

The Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment said that a data update is being done on the social empowerment projects carried out by the government at Divisional Secretariat level and that it will not abolish any benefits provided to the people.

The Ministry said a budget proposal has been made to increase the kidney patients' allowance to Rs. 10,000 from the existing Rs. 7000 through the next budget.
