No fare revision on school vans

Colombo, July 2 (Daily Mirror) - The All Island Schoolchildren's Transport Association announced today that there will be no fare revision since the recent fuel price revision did not change the price of auto diesel.

Due to the current economic situation, the association claimed that they are unable to maintain their vehicles.

Therefore, they are requesting the government to provide a loan to continue transporting school children.

The government must focus on this matter, as the union works to ensure that children are taken safely and comfortably to school on time.

This is the other group that work only for 3 hours a day and waste their life and demand. A good school bus service from public transport could eliminate this service and take this labour hours to do more productive work.

Tell me one school van owner who has gone bankrupt? In fact they keep multiplying their fleet. An office van owner who ran two rickety old 16 seaters prior to economic collapse, now has 3 new number AC 29 seaters, jacked up the rates during the fuel crisis and never ever brought it down. Instead brought 3 new busses which are parked overnight on the road because his garden only has space for his double cab! That’s how Sri Lankan SME’s operate!
