Colombo, Feb 16 (Daily Mirror) - No one is talking today of restoring my lost civic rights, former Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Ranjan Ramanayake said today.

Ramanayake expressed his girevence while talking to journalists.

"I have lost my civic rights for seven years. I cannot speak on politics as per the conditional pardon offered by the President. Therefore, I abide by the conditions laid out when the President Ranil Wickremesinghe offered to release me from jail," he added.

Ramanayake who was found guilty of contempt of court in 2021 was released by the incumbent President in 2022.

It’s only a very serious offence in Sri Lanka.. plz do some research. In India for example they fined a similar case with Rs1.00 nominal fine. It’s serious here just to protect the corrupt politicians as judges carry out their orders

RR lost the civic rights because he was charged for contempt of courts. He is young enough to lie low politically till 2028 and then get back into active politics. He should be a exemplary non political leader till then with a proper tax file maintained, reduce the womanising to a decent level, read and learn about geo politics, global power bases, and increase the charitable and empowering activity and build a reputation as an honourable and educated plus exemplary leader.

Ranjan kept saying that he has evidence of corrupt activities by his counterparts, but he never shared it with the pubic. Therefore he must understand by now truth has no limits. Truth is not conditional, so only thing left for Ranjan is to divulge his information after the next election. As he is still incarcerated, a another prisoner of conscience.

Please understand this page is not to learn English but giving an opportunity to every person from all walks of life to express themselves about the current affairs taking place in the country.
