Although a decision was taken to reduce the price of a kilogramme of milk powder by Rs. 200 with effect from 15 May, the Milk Powder Importers Association said there will be a delay in reducing the prices due to a delay in shipments.
“With the new shipments, we will be able to distribute the price reduced milk packs by 23 May,” Prof. Lakshman Weerasuriya of the Milk Powder Importers' Association said.
Earlier, a decision was taken to reduce the prices of milk powder following discussions by Trade Minister Nalin Fernando with the importers of milk powder.
