No scientific evidence that well-cooked fish transmit COVID-19: Ministry

The Ministry of Health said today that there is no scientific evidence to the effect that Coronavirus is transmitted through well-cooked fish.

“On the theoretical basis that the Coronavirus can be found on any surface while preparing fish for storage or cooking, the face should not be touched, and utensils used for the preparation of fish and the hands must be washed thoroughly,” Director General of Health Services Dr S. Sridharan said in a statement.

He emphasized that closure of fish markets is not necessary and they could continue to operate following the health guidelines.
