No teacher permitted to disrupt school education between 7:30 am and 1:30 pm: President



Colombo,July 3 (Daily Mirror) - No teacher will be permitted to disrupt school education between 7:30 am and 1:30 pm, and the Attorney General has been directed to consider further measures to ensure this, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said.

While attending a ceremony at Temple Trees today, where appointments were awarded to officers of the Education Administrative Service and teaching appointments were given to graduates and diploma holders, he emphasized the importance of those entering the teaching profession dedicating themselves to the future generation. He noted that education in a country cannot thrive without discipline.

The President requested that everyone prioritize children's education and asked the Opposition not to support acts of sabotage. Furthermore, the President said that he has discussed with the Education Minister the future process of teacher transfers and promotions through an online system, emphasising that no one will face injustices in these matters.

However, during the ceremony, appointments were granted to 60 individuals approved by the Education Service Committee of the Public Service Commission, and teaching positions were awarded to 1,706 graduates and 453 English diploma holders.

Therefore, everyone entering this honorable profession should dedicate their service to the future generation and maintain discipline. Education in a country cannot thrive without discipline, President Wickremesinghe emphasised.
