Colombo, October 10 (Daily Mirror) -  The accepting of nominations for the 2024 General Election which commenced on October 4, will conclude today (11) at 12 noon.

According to the Election Commission, nominations were accepted at district secretariats across 22 electoral districts.

As of October 10, a total 147 political parties and 104 independent groups have submitted their nominations.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake earlier announced via an Extraordinary Gazette that the Parliamentary Election will be held on November 14, 2024.

In this election, 225 Members of Parliament will be elected. Out of the members, 196 will be chosen from 22 electoral districts, while 29 members will be appointed through the national list based on the votes each party or group secures.
