Nominations of all 39 candidates accepted: Objections rejected

Colombo, August 15 (Daily Mirror) - The Elections Commission announced that the nominations of all 39 candidates have been accepted for the 2024 Presidential election.

Despite three objections being submitted, they were rejected for not being in accordance with the relevant provisions.

A total of 39 out of the 40 candidates who placed their deposits submitted their nominations today at the Election Secretariat in Rajagiriya.

The nomination process concluded at 11:00 a.m.

Accordingly, the Presidential election will be held on September 21 from 7 am to 4 pm.

This is a business. Every candidate will have a bunch of votes which he will sell to the highest bidder. Buyers are probably UNP and SJB. Clearly shows that they are hell bent on taking power rather than developing the country. God Bless Sri Lanka!

Sri Lanka's bankruptcy was a result of decades of political mismanagement and corruption, spanning nearly 76 years. Politicians exploited nationalism and religious sentiments. While most people are educated, many remain selfish and lack the knowledge and awareness needed for responsible citizenship. Those with a slave mentality may vote for their masters, but others vote with Sri Lanka's future in mind.
