Nothing was impossible for late Venerable Chief Incumbent of Gangaramaya: President

Colombo, August 5 (Daily Mirror) - Nothing was impossible for the Chief Incumbent of Gangaramaya Temple Venerable Galboda Gnanissara Thera as he was able to accomplish many things which was perceived to be impossible, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday whilst paying a glowing tribute to the late Prelate.

"The late Thera accomplished much through his organisational skills and determination, though he had no resources," the President said in a condolence message.

"The late Thera was able to strengthen international ties and through this exercise played a role in popularising Theravada Buddhism in countries such as Japan, Taiwan and Thailand".

He also played a great role in teaching English to the youth and instilling vocational skills among them. Also the Thera worked towards preserving the environment in the Southern province through his concept of 'Tree Bank'. He implemented this by planting trees such as Mahogany and teak in 900-acre land in Akuressa," the President recalled.
