Obtain Parliamentary approval for Debt Sustainability Agreement with ISB holders: Opposition MP

Parliament, December 05 (Daily Mirror)- The Government should obtain Parliamentary approval for the debt sustainability agreement with international sovereign bond (ISB) holders before implementing it, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Kabir Hashim told Parliament today.

Speaking during the debate on the vote on account in the House today, MP Hashim said MPs should know the details on the debt sustainability agreement.  

"We would like to know whether you are continuing with the agreement reached by the previous government or whether you have gone into a new agreement,” he said.

He also said more than Rs. 3 billion has been allocated for debt sustainability while a further Rs. 3 billion has been allocated as fees for legal consultancy connected with the debt restructuring programme.
