It is unfortunate that Sri Lanka Railways still uses outdated cardboard tickets, while the rest of the world has transitioned to prepaid smart cards. Significant issues plague the ticket reservation system, with involvement from station masters to clerks at the counters. There are instances where long-distance trains have many vacant seats. Meanwhile, top management and trade unions turn a blind eye to these problems.

Please allow seat selection, current system does not facilitate adjoining seats for families although indicates >100 seats available. We have to negotiate after boarding the train sometimes create unpleasant situation. SLR update online system.
