Over 150mm rain likely tomorrow

Colombo, October 10 (Daily Mirror) - Due to the development of atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of the country, heavy showers above 150mm are likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts in the next 24 hours, the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorology Department said.

They said the showery condition is expected to enhance in the south-western part of the island in the next few days starting from today.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers would occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-Western Provinces.

Accordingly, a high-risk level (Red) warning was issued for seven districts, including Puttalam, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Kegalle, Colombo, Kalutara, Rathnapura, Galle and Matara.

However, thundershowers would occur in the country during the evening or night. Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are likely at some places.
