PM reviews progress of World Bank supported education projects

The attention of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has been drawn to the progress of projects currently being implemented under the World Bank-sponsored programme aimed at modernising school education in the country.

This was revealed during a recent discussion with authorities at the Ministry of Education.

The discussion also addressed improving student hygiene and enhancing the Information Technology curriculum for secondary education.

To bring in the subject, Hygiene to a study curriculum is worth it. This subject disappeared from the curriculum in line with the idealogy. Environment, civilised living and quality tourism, high spending tourism, goes hand in hand. Go ahead, Madame - after all, you are product of " Bishops ".

Education for religious and ethnic harmony can bring about the social change the NPP Government aims for. I am sure the World Bank would support such initiatives.

PM , review about what's happening to women's rights and freedom. I was chased to leave the job by making environment and was harrsed in public places for NO reason. My propeties are damaged including documents certificates. Because of this "organised" attack. Police ask me who is the suspect , (so do we need private entities to find suspect )And my private organs are influenced including whole body by sending tragetted frequency , may be using stolen equipment from govt bidies . (unusual sexul and mental harasment from distance ) I gave complaint to police on this. Also I am being preventing doing proper job by hiking my emails and devices. Also one of my friend is seems missing (may be) And no response for police complaints. Hope this govt will look these matters .

Regulate private school fees, its important than regulation private busses and tuks, Lyceum school is charging 475000 from students as admission fees and not issuing receipt or invoice, bank deposit slip also taken, ist it Tax fraud, where is income tax, all dumb??

Hon'ble PM. Yes, it is essential to assess the outcomes of the World Bank-sponsored program for schools. With all the support, around 25% of the students are failing in 11 years of school education. Certain areas like upcountry schools it 35 to 40 percent failures. Indeed, a total of 304,105 students are getting admission in year one every year, and only 40,000 (13%) of them are getting admission to the state universities. With all these World Bank grants and loans, there has not been an outstanding improvement in the school education. Apart from that, our young people are staying up to still 19 to 20 years of age in the school. Is it happening anywhere in Asian countries other than ours? Why not send our students to study collegiate education at the age of 17?. This is happening in India, no?. Why not confine only the GCE A/L exam as a public exam handled by the examination department and let the GCE O/L be handled by the respective schools?

The first task of the PM should be to repair all rural schools so that classes could be held during bad weather and also provide drinking water facilities in each school. This could be done seeking private sector and foreign missions assistance.
