Parliament unanimously approves resolution to remove SLC office bearers
COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - The resolution for the removal of the officials including the Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket was unanimously passed in Parliament a short while ago.
The resolution was moved by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and was seconded by Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva.

They must resign immediately now if they do not leave the people will come to streets tomorrow chase them away and they must be arrested immediately and all funds they have stolen must be taken back and all property they have unjustified purchased must be taken back within the country and aboard

Had a vote been taken, perhaps several would have exposed themselves. Hence the unanimous decision. This attitude should persist always. Take the right decisions for the sake of the country and not for particular individuals or families.

SLC is not solely responsible for team's pathetic performance. But accountability is there. SLC must go home if they respect rule of law and democratic principles. It is not correct to resort to third class methods to continue, In the interest of cricket they must honorably leave.

Is there a legal standing for this resolution? If parliament starts passing resolutions to remove office bearers appointed under constitution of a body the whole process becomes a joke. Whatever the allegations are presumption of innocence is the guiding principle.

Government need to intervene, just because a team lost matches. If the team won, then the Board perfect. What a joke. No wonder SL is in the current status. By the way , ICC doesn’t accept government controlled Cricket Boards. Now we will be end up loosing the ICC status as well.

The activity of Parliament will make SLC and all cricket in Sri Lanka be outed from International arena. What Parliament did was not legal to ICC laws, that is Parliament interfered with properly elected SLC board members, to put in their choice of officials. Sri Lankan will pay for President and Parliament's interference by having Sri Lanka removed from international cricket, until the previous SLC board is re-instated. All Sri Lanka cricket clubs who voted to get in the previous board are support for now Parliament sacked previous board, and against Parliament and President involvement of cricket.

I said this before, and il say it again. SL cricket will not improve as long as we have 20 plus clubs. The problem lies with identifying and selecting talented players. How do you select 11 out of 220 odd individuals. Some of the clubs in SL are not even heard of, just set up for the purpose of votes. Cut them down to 8 clubs. The issues is in the grassroot level. Even School cricket must be governed by SLC.

Always it is best to rid the Cricket Board officials who have swindled the Cricket purse. Then what next have we officials who will take over who have not had any blemish and being transparent in the past? There are hawks in the waiting to fill these positions since our system is corrupt from top to bottom! So public do not be complacent when these things happen as our legislators have been the worst crooks who manipulate to rob the public purse through lackeys like the recent sugar tax. All these are happenings just to show the world that we are a corrupt free nation as CRICKET IS BIG BUSINESS but inside it stinks!!!!!!!!!

The ultimate solution rests with the President. If he is silently all out to help the corrupt Cricket Officials or for that matter, any others in the country, even the Unanimous Resolution of the Parliament will be useless. This is a battle against Corruption.
