Police Sub Inspector arrested with illicit liquor, distilling gear

Anuradhapura, may 20 (Daily Mirro)- A police Sub Inspector (SI) who had in his possession a stock of 14 litres of illicit liquor and distilling equipment was arrested by Thirappane Police during a raid on his house.

The 59-year-old SI was a resident of Ihalagama in Mihintale. Police said they carried out the raid on a tip-off from the public

The distilling equipment seized during the raid included copper pipes covered with rubber belts, a barrel, a gas cylinder and a gas cooker.

The suspect police officer was to be produced in court

OIC Thirappane Police CI R.M.S.Kumarasinghe is conducting further investigations on the instructions of SSP Thilina Hewapathirana and DIG Laksiri Wijesena.

More than 99% of Police officers are doing this very same business, if so, all of them should be arrested to produce before the Courts.
