Police launches probe as Peradeniya Uni student goes missing

Peradeniya Police have initiated investigation into a complaint over the disappearance of a fourth year student of the University of Peradeniya.

Police said a 24-year-old student, a resident of Yakkala who is studying in the fourth year in Art Faculty of the University has been missing since a few days ago.

A letter suspected to have been written by the missing undergraduate was found last Friday in the boarding room where he was staying.

Police said there have been no information about him until this morning and the investigation is continuing.(DSB)

People would say CASTE and CLASS have no place in modern society. But no one can deny that in all situations CASTE and CLASS bring in relative decency even if not an absolute one. University is a Temple of advanced learning, the chances of ragging and other crimes happening there is very slim if the preponderance of the students come from the HIGH CASTE and GOOD FAMILY BACKGROUND.

Castes are nothing but Social Clubs where people follow similar cultural practices. Class comes from the attitudes of a person. In other words how one carries him or her self. Complex issues always exist among the children hailing from the rural areas. That's why some Universities have moral education as a subject to offer counselling. Your comment reminds Ponnambalam Ramanathan's suggestion to deny voting rights to the people labelled as low class.

Do whatever you could do to find him. ..to find why this took place ..is it personal problem or any other reasons .. Safety of our next generation is important and no one should compromise on this. University must do all what it could to protect them
