Police open fire on recklessly driven lorry in Sooriyawewa



Sooriyawewa, Oct 27 (Daily Mirror)- The Sooriyawewa Police fired shots at a lorry that failed to stop when ordered during a traffic inspection at Meegahajadura. 

Police said the lorry, travelling from Lunugamwehera to Sooriyawewa, was being driven recklessly and disregarded police signals to halt. The vehicle came to a stop after police shot at one of its tyres.

Upon arresting the driver, police discovered that the lorry was transporting 17 heads of cattle. 

The driver was arrested and is to be produce before the Hambantota Magistrate's Court.
