Police sergeant arrested for soliciting bribe



Colombo, August 02 (Daily Mirror) -  A police sergeant attached to the Mahabage Police Traffic Division has been arrested for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 150,000 from a suspect in Uswetakeiyawa.

The arrest was made by officers of the Bribery Commission near the Mahabage courts today. 

According to the Commission, the sergeant had promised a resident who was suspected to be involved in selling narcotics that, in exchange for the money, he would ensure the resident would not face any inconvenience related to allegations under the Yukthiya Operation.
