Policemen and protesters injured during SJB protest

Colombo, Jan. 30 (Daily Mirror)- Police Spokesman Nihal Thalduwa today confirmed that few policemen were injured in today’s protest while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) also said some of its partymen were also injured and hospitalized.

“There were some policemen injured in the commotion but I am still to receive a report in protest,” Mr. Thalduwa said.

SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said around five party supporters including former MP Mujibur Rahaman was injured and hospitalized. However sources at the Accident Ward of the Colombo National Hospital said no politician was admitted to the hospital.

Well hope the party hierarchy takes total responsibility for the injuries, as they were called out by the party leaders to wilfully defy and take on the law enforcing authorities. As usual the pawns in the hands of the leaders take the brunt of the hurt.

Police spokesman says wrong statements saying policemen also injured. Do we have to believe him or hospital sources. SL Police have gone to dogs. The recent incident near Liberty roundabout is another example where police deliberately protect the protesters but came late to protect the thugs. Do we have Law and Order in this country?
