Kurunegala, June 2 (Daily Mirror)- Claiming that corrupt and rowdy politicians who backed away after the 'Aragalaya' have started to raise their heads again, NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today that if the true aspirations of the Aragalaya are to be fulfilled, a government which maintains the true objective of the people's uprising should be established.
Speaking at the NPP youth rally in Kurunegala, he said the National People's Power (NPP) is the only political force and the government which could uphold the true aspirations of the people's uprising in 2022.
He said politicians have not learnt any lessons from the Argalaya and said that instead they are humiliating the people's uprising, claiming it an uprising of drug addicts.
Dissanayake said the people, especially the youth took to the streets for common aspirations without allegiance to any political force and added that however, they had aspirations for a good political situation.
"People expected a disciplined and lawful country free of fraud and corruption. They took to the streets for a common social objective. The rulers did not realise that. They humiliated it and said drug addicts and prostitutes engaged in the Aragalaya. These rulers never learnt a lesson even from such a massive uprising," he said.
He said the politicians were marching along the same old path even after the Aragalaya where they have started to supress the people using their power and have started to sell state property.

NPP has no plan, just thriving on the weaknesses of others. Just thriving on poverty level of people. If people become rich they will not get votes, so the objective will be to keep the people poor for ever.

What a foolish statement , If those who have governed this country properly since Independence, poverty may not have been seen in this country. There are men who are obsessed with NPP phobia after seen seen thousands and thousands are rallying around them. You would have seen how nearly thousands of engineers participating the engineers conference which NPP had few days ago with a theme how to built this country under a NPP led government.

Anura has explained lots of his policies, actions and details about his team on several occasions. Have you heard them? or did you choose not to listen to them?. Without listening to someone, how come you know about their ideas

@Tissa- you seem a pro Ranil / SLPP guy from all your previous reviews too. And must be from the well off group as you accept the previous and current regimes as the best option to run SL. But look at the condition of hospitals, transportation (buses and trains),the welfare of the average person etc? Unfortunately, majority are not as fortunate as you and want these morons to pack up. They will just keep on being corrupted, not solving the issues of the people etc. So be ready for a change if you like it or not!

RAJ: What's the reason for anyone to listen to a failed politician like Anura. The country is now getting better, unless you're too mean to accept it. It is ok if Anura was a top accepted politician. Then people might be inclined to listen to him for his wisdom at least. But Anura is nothing but a glib talker.

Yohan Sunday, 02 June 2024 10:30 PM
Just talker nothing else. Only thing he says is no corruption not a single word about how economy is managed and at least how they sort out any corruption issue. We saw how Hadun lied after making some funny statement. All these old jvp guys are clueless about economy or modern trends.

Yohan seem to be deaf as he is making funny comments to mislead the general public. At every meeting JVP describe how to develop the economy of this country. If you want to study further go to their web site and read. Please dont try to fool the people by making these foolish comments.

Go back Anura, listen to what your members had said about Aragalaya at its beginning. You (Handuneththi) insulted it, you could not bear some outsiders doing it successfully. Later only you sent some of your stooges to enter slowly.

Yohan Monday, 03 June 2024 12:04 AM
True. They are very good at manipulation. Latest example is big lier Hadun. He is the head of economic committee but does not know the meaning of an economic hitman. Fellow thinks any businessman from a foreign country is an economic hitman. So according to his tiny brain Elon Mask, Soros and Packer are economic hitman. Lol.

Yes we saw it clearly ,when Sajith and AKD went to Gall face green at the last stages of Aragalaya. If NPP had made bad comments of Aragalaya AKD wouldnt have got a friendly treatment from the protesters of Aragalaya.

@Tissa, here you go again! Are u saying SLPP and all previous regimes are doing a good job. Look at the pathetic situation at the suburbs of Colombo and outstation areas. The infrastructure is crumbling, depleted healthcare facilities, terrible transport system and welfare of the average citizen has not improved over the past 30 years in comparison to most other countries.

Anura, I've been following your journey for a long time. You've tirelessly tried to educate the people of this land, despite many of them being die-hard supporters of the green or blue camps because their parents voted that way. In my opinion, you're truly one of a kind. On this journey, people might try to discourage you. Remember, if a tree bears fruit, it becomes a target for everyone. To me, you're the Sri Lankan Nelson Mandela. Keep pushing forward, man. All the best!

Jvp aka NPP was never part of Aragalaya. They jumped in and set the stage on fire and ruined everything the decent people started. Their jealousy and craving to be rich saw them burn down houses and businesses and storm Presidential palaces. Keep dreaming AKD. You never be our president.

This man is so desparate! Under a NPP government Sri Lanka will be moving backwards, not forwards. As long as people are ignorant and poor, NPP will thrive and they intend to keep it that way for their survival. Do not fall for this man's trap, we all know what havoc these fellows have created in the past and they still do. AKD's talks make me wonder if he is having memory loss/dementia!!

It's people like in the NPP, FSP, IUSF who infiltrated and hijacked the genuine people's movement for their self political gain. Some of the elements thrived on the people's suffering and designed to exacerbate the situation. Weren't there organised groups on bicycles who went around to petrol station lines stirring up the people. Wonder who was behind them?

NM died a failed socialist as the masses woke up. Monday, 03 June 2024 07:57 AM
NPP/SJB Youth are attending rallies, while Ranil and Aragalaya heroes are helping flood victims. This shows the priority of each group. NO CHANCE OF SOCIALISM when the masses are not hungry. NM Perera exploited this principle to the maximum to come to power. But Lanka's poor masses taught him a lesson for life and they chased him away when they found his true colors.

Aragalay was a genuine effort of the masses! We all contributed from near and far. Until a bunch of subversives slowly took over, conducting nefarious activities and making it their typical ‘subversive’ approach. Try again you bunch of subversives- this time it won’t be water bottles and food, we know what to treat you with!

Is he talking about himself? During Aragalaya, they were offered the PM position after SP, but both chicken away. The after RW became President , offered key position on the economic revival and even offered the irrigation and agriculture misister position to AKD. But clown ran away giving clumsy excuses. Now that the economy is getting back on tracks, big talkers (SP and AKD) think they can run the show.. Get lost AKD...

JVP should not only be hyenas they must build up their character as well, as Major Parties have eaten the country and SL has to go forward in the correct path at least now to achieve its goal.Stringent control of the recurrent expenditure is must along with increasing the productivity.National Policy and Party discipline has to be maintained to attract foreign investors

I'm laughing at these people who try to trick others. The truth is that this same individual, Anura Kumara, and his colleagues, comrades, or whatever, did not answer to several pleas from 'Aragalaya' attendees. They initially claimed that there was no leadership and that there were numerous reasons to oppose it. When it was successful, they dispatched their young wing. "ARAGALAYA" declined their support, stating that it is against all political parties. Knowing what will happen if they attend any protests during the fast, no one wants them to participate as a party.Anura Kimara is now attempting to claim credit and votes for something he has no knowledge of, which is ludicrous and disgusting.we dismiss his remark as rubbish.

President should be Ranil who was able to turnaround a country that was heading towards anarchy and chaos. The government should be NPP and SJB, TNA, SLMC etc. The SLPP thugs should be wiped off. Mahinda R did a good job in stopping the war, but it is not a ticket for his clan to destroy the country.

Aragalaya was not a politically motivated or a political movement. It was a spontaneous by the people on behalf of all citizens who were pushed to the abyss by an arrogant set of politicians with zero knowledge of managing the poor state of the economy. However the first political movement who tried to hijack the uprising was JVP for their own political expediency but couldn't succeed. Long live Aragalaya Jeyawewa

Damith J Monday, 03 June 2024 02:05 PM
Aragalaya was a result of decent people revolting for the corruption and disregard of law and order of the country by the administrators. Thinks why some politicians are trying to make a mockery out of the “revolution. The corruption ring (cartel) is about 5,000 to 10,000 individuals and the long arm of the law are reaching them slowly and steadily because of the efforts of people who resist this, therefore all the crooks hate people who tell them obey the law. Look at the Foreign Service, next of kin of politicians are being sent abroad as government reps would not stand a chance of being a security person in a local establishment. Since the A/L results are out there is a relevance of that to the next election. About 1.5 million students have faced the GCE OL and most of these kids are well aware of whats happening within the country and people who have left for foreign employment, 90% want a change and for them viable option is NPP.
