Possibility of lifting curfew in WP on Monday

Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva assured that there is possibility to restore normalcy within the Western Province from Monday, November 9. He said that it is vital to resume normal activities in the country by opening restricted areas.

“The President has clearly stated that imposing a 10 day curfew  was to minimize the possibility of virus transmission in the province with the highest population density. The President also instructed us to take all possible measures to carry out as many PCR tests possible over these 10 days,” the Army Commander said.

Accordingly, measures are underway to lift the quarantine curfew imposed in the Western Province on Monday. He added that it is the responsibility of all citizens to adhere to health regulations in place.

“The strain of this virus being spread currently is of high transmissibility, that health experts have encouraged people to wear their face masks appropriately. Even the slightest mistake in wearing your mask or other hygiene practices can make a person vulnerable to contracting COVID-19,” the Head of the National COVID-19 Task Force said.

He urged the public to cooperate with the national efforts of alleviating COVID-19 by strictly abiding by health guidelines.
