President asks IG to check haphazardly driven VIP vehicles

President Maitripala Sirisena has instructed IGP to check VIP vehicles driven haphazardly with burning headlights and to report on the VIPs on board. He issued these instructions during a ceremony this morning in Colombo.

First ask them to take off that blue and red 'namal light' fixed on the dashboard. Even 'batta' vehicles down south use those.

All so called VIP vehicles are driven haphazardly with headlights on and pls ask for a report from IG which VIP is driven decently? and the response will be NONE

No vehicle should be using flashing blue and red lights except emergency vehicles such as police and ambulance.That is internationally recognised. But Sri Lankan?

Why would the President need to ask IGP, if the Police can do their duties perfectly and unbiased?VIPs can't be above the law, and this is what our Police has been not getting it right for some reasons and IGP should responsibly address this to change the trend in his department

Why only checking to see if there has been haphazard driving ? What is the difference in treatment to our elected SERVANTS. If such driving by us , calls for immediate issue of a slip by the traffic police , why not for these characters as well. Some one should take it up as a fundamental rights issue in court of law
