President condemns assassination attempt on Trump

Colombo, July 14 (Daily Mirror) - President Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed his shock and relief regarding the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, stating he is thankful that Trump is safe.

The President said that Sri Lankans have also experienced political violence and urged everyone to adhere to laws that protect democracy.

Former President Donald Trump was shot in the ear after a gunman opened fire towards the stage at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday -- a harrowing incident that left one spectator dead, two others critically injured and sparked chaos at the event.
