President Anura Kumara Dissanayake extended his deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, following his passing away.
In his message, President Dissanayake described Carter as a statesman whose extraordinary life was defined by his unwavering commitment to peace, human rights and humanitarian affairs.
President Dissanayake said that Jimmy Carter’s efforts in promoting global peace were internationally recognised when he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
"May his legacy live on as a beacon of hope to build a better world for all," President Dissanayake added.
