President Ranil leaves for UK and France on official visit Colombo, Feb 08 (Daily Mirror) - President Ranil Wickremesinghe left Sri Lanka this morning to participate in the 7th Indian Ocean Conference in Perth, Australia.

The President will be in Australia from February 9 – 10, and will deliver the keynote address in the 7th Indian Ocean Conference.

He will also explore investment opportunities for Sri Lanka during the event.

Agree. He has been working hard to reposition Sri Lanka within the international community and thereby promote Sri Lanka. Not too long ago the heads of state of Sri Lanka has to beg countries like Uganda invite it's head of state just to be shown as having international acceptance. Foreign relations and acceptance is a very important component in developing trade and investment. If people think he is on a jaunt they need to scrutinise the itineraries of his various trips.

Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Association , Freedom of Religion are bedrock of the Australian Democratic System while there are laws in Australia to ensure Gender Equality and Equal Opportunity and a “ Fair Go “ in society. How can Ranil explore investment opportunities when, (a) the country is bankrupt and have declared its inability to honour the loans (b) The Minister of Health is in prison for dangerous manipulation of orders of medicine and importing sub standard medicines that resulted in death and blindness?
