President Maithripala Sirisena and the Sri Lankan delegation will leave tomorrow to attend the 71st United Nations General Assembly due to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York from September 19 to 26.
The President is due to address the General Assembly on Wednesday. This is the second time that President Sirisena is addressing the UN General Assembly.
The President's Media Director Dharma Sri Bandara Ekanayaka said Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera, Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka, Skills Development and Vocational Training Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe, Provincial Council and Local Government Minister Faizer Musthafa would be among the delegates leaving for New York.
Ban KI Moon who has been serving as the UN Secretary General for the past 10 years is also due to deliver his farewell speech to the General Assembly during the session.
Ban Ki Moon is a former Foreign Minister of South Korea and it is said that he is to contest for the presidency after returning to his country in January next year. (Thilini Dd Silva)
