The removals were made under Article 47 (3) (a) of the Constitution, the PMD said.

Matti Minister Prasanna was appointed as a State Minister by Ranil, this along shows the quality of RW worse than Mervyn Silva. What does Miris Kudu Prasanna knows and did he get through Grade 8 at least? Hugging all thugs RW became a worse rogue.

These state ministers know that after Presidential election whoever become the president will dissolve the parliament and have a general election. However if they hang on with Ranil, they will not have a future. Wise decision

If a candidate fails to secure 50 percent. Then counting the second prefential vote may drag on for days or even weeks. RW can still function as President. So probably he is eying for that. Also incase the spending limit is above the max allowed for the election, winner can even get disqualified and might open a chance for other candidates. He may be eying for that too.

Ha Ha serves them right for carrying water for the incipient dictator. The guy was voted to be President when he had only one seat in the parliament and now he is firing them from their posts. Potential voters should observe and learn from this behavior what kind of a "gentleman" this is.

Doing Some “Housekeeping” Before The Handover Tuesday, 10 September 2024 07:34 PM
Good he’s finally doing some “Housekeeping” at government level. Anyway, it’s too late as the tide has finally changed for a brand new team to helm the country. Good for the new party also as it will make sense to start downsizing every bit of government so as to keep expenditures low. With a lean younger team, productivity and efficiency will certainly improve. Those slackers will find it challenging to maintain their usual pace which they have been accustomed to unless they start to be super productive in the next few weeks.

It is OK to fire them because, they are with the opposition so let them be so. They cannot be in the Ministerial position while sitting in the opposition because opposition task has been to oppose every thing the government does.

“Dr. RW” cuts a pathetic figure as he nears the end of his disastrous 45-year political career, marked by minimal achievements and a lack of significant contributions to his legacy (in contrast to initiatives like Mahaweli, FTZ, Mahapola, and the containerisation of the CMB port). He will be remembered largely for his involvement in corruption, underhanded dealings with the Rajapakse's, and his role as the mastermind behind the Bond scam.

Only if he would have acted against corruption in this manner when he was appointed as President? People would have voted for him back into power.

As mentioned in previous comments a few weeks ago, RW must have been selected by current regime only if he plays along with them. Obviously some agreement reached not to interfere with the SLPP gang and he gets to enjoy the Full perks and benefits of Presidency plus his favourite pastime of “Globe Trotting”! His hands were tied and couldn’t get those involved in corruption, unresolved sensational murder cases plus Easter Bombings. But he definitely could have done something to get those involved if he had a will. The citizens would have supported him all day long. Or, Maybe his Bond scam had something to do with it too!

That is why Sajith and Anura did not take offer of Gota, but RW quite happy as he was salivating for this. He was elected by current regime after he agreed to play along with them. Other two knew their plight with rogues in majority in Parliament and requested to call for immediate General Election.

Ranil did not remove them for corruption but because they abandoned him by putting their weight with SJB and Namal. If it was corruption Ranil himself should be the first to go.

No need for any State Minister to the country. They are just space fillers. Tax payers money is wasted for the privileges those State Ministers enjoy

Indirectly saying they are leaving the sinking ship. Ranil might dissolve the parliament just before the election so that the SLPP Cabinet of ministers and Dinesh as PM will continue until the next parliament is elected. This will disrupt the next president.

It is often said, "Better late than never," Mr. President. However, this decisive action should have been taken at the very outset of your presidency. From the moment you assumed office, it was imperative to purge the ranks of all individuals involved in corruption and criminal activity. Instead, under your leadership, the nation witnessed an unparalleled level of corruption and misconduct by cabinet ministers and members of parliament, all of which unfolded under your watchful eye while you remained silent. As a result government was losing greater share of revenue when country was still undergoing economic crisis.

Anura Kumara has promised to get rid of these layers of administration in the economically bankrupt SL. Ranil is trying to show the corrupt politicians who may be trying to move away from him for their own greed, that he is still the master. However, Ranil the failed politician will only have power till 21 September.
