A president has to travel when required to improve the relations and bring in more investments and opportunities .It’s not a leisure trip but an official one and it may bring more benefits to the country than the little penny wasted .Don’t look everything negatively .see the positive developments .We need to change our mentality and mindsets to proposer as a nation .Everything we see in a negative mindset ,this has to change

I disagree, making contacts with World Leaders is definitely not a waste of public funds. That is International relationship.

People who cannot see the big picture thinks differently. When global trends are also not good and specially country is in dire strait you need build up international networks and contacts as well as to look for potential investment from them. Moreover renegotiating existing loans ( restructuring etc) should happen with them. We need be a players of each and every forums.

This fellow is using his position as President to visit visit and visit all those conferences that interest him personally than benefitting the country in this trying times. Rajapakse's galavanted notoriously abusing their power and that was a period of different type of utter waste. In the end, it is we public who pay every inch of these abuses and privileges.

The President should take a cue from the Indians and sign an agreement with Australia similar to what the Indians have done in the recent past (not only India other countries as well) assisting past and future migrants I think it is called a Social Security Agreement as it would benefit the country SL as well from what Iam aware

Excellent news unelected master debating president flying high on my hard earned cash. He loves to spend time in mile high club while poor folks are struggling to walk having spent night with unelected master debater. He loves one night stand in mile high club on his double bed. He loves emergency landing on him regular basis to doing internal work from externally. This is the best unelected master debater the world ever had

Before he relinquish duties he wants to fly over entire world on poor Tax Payers' money.Did he enlighten the cabinet or parliament the outcome of his visits. And after the election the new President also has to visit many countries on people's tax money. There is no control over recurrent expenditure by the present Govt.

The president is so smart to make use of his PERKS as they won't last too long. Does he think that Australia needs his able assistance at the expense of struggling natives of his country or Is he trying to catch up with his world tours?

Cherath Tuesday, 06 February 2024 06:50 PM
No one can stop him flying out to attend meetings and conferences, however meaningless they are to Sri Lanka, at a time when it is on its knees. This is the result of having a President through a hole in the constitution, who always fancied globe trotting, without having to spend his own money.

Well, he is under tremendous stress from the un-expected resignation of his Environment Minister Rambukwella. He does need to de-stress and also, it's a very important conference re: The Indian Ocean. The countries require his expertise in Oceanography. Sorry readers, he had no other option. Might use this opportunity to visit the Nouvelle Caledonia as well? Enjoy and have a safe trip RW!

Hi All Lankans I am sad to see Lankans have divided since the economic crisis, but have you ever thought about the tamils in the land still second citizens to the government? Wake up people!! If you want your country back on track on the economic growth, treat tamils like how the government treat singhalese. If the government in Sri Lanka or world government need to look at the tamils rights and protection before look at the future growth and economic stability. The past Governments and current government want tamils to live in their country without their voice and justice. Think in a positive way, do you want your country back to economic revovery and we all go back and build the nation? Solve once and all how Tamils want to be treated and allow them as equal opportunity as other citizens. Hope I made it clear and not hurt anyones feeling. Truth never sleeps
