President wants swift allocation of funds to iron out issues in North

Jaffna, Jan 07 (Daily Mirror) - President Ranil Wickremesinghe has pledged swift financial allocations to address health and education challenges in the North while prioritizing identified needs.

The commitment was voiced during a meeting at the Jaffna District Secretariat on Saturday, where the President engaged with representatives from health, education and the youth community.

Notably, plans include earmarking land for a teaching hospital in Jaffna and securing funds to address teacher vacancies.

Approximately 300 individuals from these sectors were present during the President's address and the proposed solutions to their concerns.

With regard to education and skills development, the young people in the Norhtern province should grab the opportunities that are provided by the state for free and sometimes subsidized in many different sectors such as IT, construction, teacher training, Engineering, Hospitality etc. through the state institutions. Youth have to work hard, and the civil society need to constantly guide them. Everyone in the North should be trilingual and English language skills are very important.

Sinhalisation, policed by Sinhalisation, subservient to the Sinhalised governments , Singalised standardisation in education, jobs. The north has the capacity to develop on its own. The government should return the lands to its owners and stop the military from undertaking civilian businesses. Allow the Tamil diaspora to invest without hindering their efforts. Full implementation of the 13th amendment could a good start. Teach the majority community to believe the north is Sri Lanka too.
