Tamils should put forward their own candidate. The world should know Tamil representative contested. Hon Mr Sumanthiran, a well educated person with a very good command of English language should contest on behalf of the Tamils, Sure he won’t win due to be in the minority, but the world should know Tamils put forward a candidate. WAKE UP TAMILS FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

Welcome move, but how about SLPP and SLFB. Hopefully those two parties are in the verge of closure.

Only RW will agree and come for the debate and the other two will be missing in action.

This is the right thing to do, then only the public will also know to plan to whom they are going to vote.

Both are famous for their talk. No action. Sajith was a minister

I think Sajith may not come as he has less debating skills.

He’s Good For Barking Around Only Sunday, 07 April 2024 06:20 PM
My sentiments too! He’s good for barking as an opposition in Parliament and living a luxurious lifestyle with the Parliamentarian’s perks and his personal income too. Not ready to lead a messy economy yet. He will need everything laid out nicely on a Silver platter.

Right after he was elected as President of Sri Lanka, he became everything to everyone.

Let’s see how anura kumara will come up with a stupid logic to escape. Most daily mirror readers will appreciate an open debate about their policies but it won’t entertain the pity gallery of the so called compass.

Why Ranil?

S.L.C Peiris Sunday, 07 April 2024 01:18 PM
How did Ranil Wickremesinghe who failed to get elected even from the Colombo District at the last election become a “main presidential candidate” and get invited to a presidential debate?
0 0
JVP GUY Sunday, 07 April 2024 02:31 PM
As per the constitution. Even Anura contested and Ranil was able to get 33 times mroe votes than this Anura guy.

BBM Sunday, 07 April 2024 01:55 PM
These three will accept the invitation. In the past CBK and MR were reluctant to accept and participate when they were invited by media or challenged by other competitors. This is the need of the hour and an opportunity for the people to guess which election comes first or how the financial situation and long-due constitutional reformations impact the presidential election. Watch the eclipse of three objects.

Knowing the Srilankan voters, it will be less than 10% who will decide to vote based on the outcome of the debates, others will decide based on various unrelated factors. The debate will only hold the Presidential winner accountable for what he says in the debates and will not be a vote gathering platform.

POLITICIANS ARE WELL KNOWN TO PROMISE THE WORLD AND NOT DELIVER Sunday, 07 April 2024 06:53 PM
CORRECT, WILL ONLY BE A COMEDY OF ERRORS AND FALSE PROMISES.

In sri Lanka the politicians will promise the sun and the moon to come to power but how can we ensure that they deliver what they promised? What ever promised should be within a stipulated time frame and legally binding. If they don't deliver they should resign!

RW can only argue his failure past for 50 years in politics! Last time not even elected - party got a PIN seat due to the Satan JRJ! He can talk of these by supporting the Satan Constitution for APAYA!!

This type of thinking will throw us back to stone ages. RW is the only politician who was sussesful in turning back the economy for good which he did in 2002, 2017

Only Ranil can talk intelligently. There's a huge chance others will not even attend while giving lame excuses since they know they can't argue with Ranil.

OH! LORD OPEN THE EYES OF THE MASSES AND GIVE THEM THE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW THEY SHOULD VOTE FOR THEIR BENEFIT NOT POLITICIANS Sunday, 07 April 2024 04:59 PM
MAJORITY OF VOTERS WILL NOT VOTE BASED ON A DEBATE. THOSE STANDING FOR ELECTION AND THEIR PARTY'S SHOULD BE INFORMING THE PUBLIC OF THEIR AGENDAS AT PUBLIC MEETINGS, DOOR TO DOOR VISITS, ON THE STREETS GIVING OUT LEAFLETS HOW TO VOTE

75 years people yeah 75 years the country never progressed to the next level. The mainstream political parties failed miserably. We need a change!! Only change will come under NPP government led by AKD.

I can imagine AKD talking about his usual stolen wealth stories and Sujith talking about his donations, while Ranil talking about the economics and political policies.

If SL has clever voters, they should not talk or appoint repeated liars, thieves, bank robbers, culprits, criminal savers, respect bribery man or kappam man, law breakers and many more! That is end of any debate!!

RW will have many things to say he has achieved during these two years. Other candidates can only talk about hopes and promises. I personally think RW should be there for another 5 years to put things in order completely, then need a change to Anura or another with leadership qualities.

A very good idea. This should pose all the possibilities with a how, why when and by whom things will be done to satisfy the voters of this country. The people are tired of all the false promises made.

What's the point coming for a debate with Ranil, who destroyed the country, kept room for the Rajapakses to ruin the country as opposition leader top of that destroyed the grand old party UNP , what is he doing now protecting Rajapakses and depending on SLPP votes and supporters, the damage Ranil has done to this country is cannot be forgotten, please don't talk about to him, and insult the intelligence of the people of Srilanka.

We already know the policies of RW, SP and pohottuwa as we are today enjoying the results of their policies as a nation. They have nicely put the country into this tragedy. But we voted for them in turns for decades. So this time, we do not care what policies these corrupt parties are going to follow. But for the first time we are keen to dig deep into what NPP is going to do. We are open to know what NPP is going say.

None of the three presidential candidates known so far has the personal and political stature to solve the country's still enormous problems in the spirit of ethnological harmony and socially just politics! Even a public debate between the three on all relevant socio-political issues will not fundamentally change this! The people's problems, especially in the economic sphere and living standards, are well known, but the solutions offered by the political parties of the three candidates have so far failed to convince the majority of voters. Sri Lanka is facing a crucial and difficult election! Where is the convincing presidential candidate who has the strength, energy and stamina to draw the far-reaching, radical conclusions from the previous policies and to implement them!!!???

It's too early to call for a Presidential debate there are other parties which have to announce their candidate for the Presidential elections, even the elections commission has still not informed the date for the election. Actually, it should be Sajith against Anura ,if we are including Ranil definitely other candidates cannot be ignored.

Debate should between Sajith and Anura , Ranil cannot be included. He do not represent a party he is mainly backed by corrupt Rajapakses , SLPP parliament members and the various mafia in Srilanka. UNP has lost its vote base same with SLPP.

Anura can talk only but he cannot have any overseas support. Ranil will have overseas support, but he had lost the confidence of his countrymen after imposing excessive taxes. Sajith has no guts like his father to stand and he is sloppy.
