June 12 - President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized that the upcoming presidential election will be pivotal for the country's future, focusing on national success rather than individual triumphs or losses.

Speaking at a policy reform discussion held at the Water's Edge Hotel in Battaramulla, Wickremesinghe addressed youth representatives from the Economic Reforms Sectoral Monitoring Committee.

"The upcoming election is not about personal victories or defeats," President Wickremesinghe declared. "It is about determining the success or failure of our country."

During the discussion, the President highlighted the importance of implementing robust economic reforms to ensure long-term prosperity. He acknowledged the critical role that the youth and various sectors of society play in shaping the nation's future.

For all the noise the opposition (SLPP) at that time made about stealing Billions of rupees finally a team of 19 lawyers from the AGs office only filed action to claim back 680 million rupees. That case is yet dragging in the court system. Our agitation (aragalaya) should be for the court system to expedite the verdict of that case. If not its not correct to call some one a rogue without proof. Actually the case is very weak from the technical point of view, the accused may be proven not guilty as well! Then are we going to accuse the courts of also been corrupt and believing that its only us the people who are very honest? Are our people honest?

Of course, it is crucial! It is the first opportunity that the people will get to chase away the rogues (including the Central Bank robbers) and scoundrels of this regime and those who made a mockery of democracy by postponing local government elections, harassed the people by increasing utility fares exorbitantly and treated the people who were exercising their democratic rights to liberal doses of water cannon and even worse, the latest versions of tear gas using a subservient and boneless police force. Needless to say that the people are patiently and eagerly awaiting this opportunity.

People have been electing rogues at many elections. Not the first occasion. Today we see 3W drivers proudly proclaiming support for Malimawa. Its this very people who used to sell fuel at black market prices when they got the opportunity. Perhaps some of them voted for Gota in 2019. We must educate people to vote for a party or president with a solid plan. Currently No one is strongly presenting a comprehensive plan.

A President of SL does not have the power to declare elections. It is the EC - Elections Commissioner who has that power. And there is a time frame in which he has to do so. When reading these comments we see a 76 year curse been spoken of. Have you realised that it is when the elections are held that we elect this curse upon ourselves? We talk big and vote stupidly. Even the JVP were once voted in with 39 Seats and at the next election we voted only 3 of them. Why?

RW is a conman. His strength is English proficiency and upper class family background. He is a lackey of Western Leadership. He will sell anything to please them. He has not himself done anything progressive to change political social or economic culture in Sri Lanka. He just implemented what Western countries proposed to survive in political environment and enjoyed perks entitled as the leader. People is deceived by him over and over again. I cannot see any declared presidential candidates who are capable of rescuing the country. Possibly Champika can do that. However SL public is a set of blind and deaf. They don’t see Champika’s value and argue petty personal life mistakes to write him off. The cost they will pay for doing that would be huge. Anyway a country will have leaders deserve for the quality of public. SL will be a poor country for next 100 years. India will annexe SL as one of theirs. Stupid public is just marking time. Their next generations will curse their parents.

How lucky you are first PM then President even without elections look around you everywhere there are elections and todays youth they know so much more than us and even if they don't(some things) they will very quickly learn

If you think about the country rather than president seat why you approved vehicle permit and bar license to MPs and not find solution to corrupted money such as central bank bond and sugar import as well as others even though poor people could not eat enough and quality food atleast once a day What you have done saved corrupted politicians provuded benifits to them,increased price of good and services got more Dept, implemented new laws to reduce voice of people But removed middle class which have been added with low class now only two class people low class and high class These are your achievements
