Minister Harin Fernando today (14) revealed that an election is scheduled to take place on October 05 this year.

He made this announcement during a press interaction in Galle.

Expressing confidence in the outcome, Minister Fernando asserted that President Ranil Wickremesinghe would emerge triumphant in the forthcoming election.

When we ask our conscience, President Ranil Wickramasinghe is the only choice. He has the sole rights to come before the people for his commitment fulfilled during the crisis to uplift the country. He put his political differences aside and come forward on the request made by his political rivals who respect his talent ,amidst the thread that posed on his life. He did not play party politics at a decisive moment. Take up the challenges and took a policy decision instead of political decision. As a citizen of the country that have high literal people, we have the responsibility to respect and proud of him. It is easy said than done.

Only a small group of people who are the beneficiaries of his unfair tax and economic policies can be attributed to him! The problem areas recognised by the people as being crucial - corruption, combating the embezzlement of public assets, tax injustices, etc. - continue unchanged and prevent healthy economic growth! The claim that Ranil would win the election only shows how far removed illegitimate politics has become from people's daily lives!!!
