Mental health issues are heavily stigmatized in sri lanka, it's a shame and all you people talk as if you wont judge someone when they try to talk about their issues. I am fed up of seeing adults think they understand children just because you were a child once doesn't mean we all go through the same experiences. Grow up literally.

Investigate everyone. Were there no responsible adults to supervise the teen party? An absolute heartbreaking tragedy. We could say it was drugs but it's better not to tarnish the kids' reputation without confirming facts.

What sad state of affairs life ended at just 15 years old. We don’t have mechanisms where people with mental health and addiction issues can speak to someone and seek professional help. Our society is cruel wherein we will ridicule people for being mentally unstable or have issues. Parents don’t push your children to please others or try and keep up with joneses so that you may achieve success. Not everyone is the same.

May be a party with drug use, or a challenge to jump from the building. The police should raid the apartment for clues and should interview everyone present and the cctv footage. Enforce trave ban to the apartment owners and their children. It could also be a bullying case or even murder. The people living in these apartments are well off so they spend lavishly on drugs and alcohol.

This is truly a terrible incident that no parent should ever have to endure in their lifetime. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the students during this incredibly difficult time. May they find strength, comfort, and support to navigate through this heartbreaking loss.

This awkward looking building built by foreign architects is an eyesore and gives the impression that it's going to collapse any moment. As such it should be demolished before other victims come forward to take the plunge to enter their name in the history books.

Hey readers, please don't assume this person represents all architects. If you're looking for a job at the UDA, it suits you. UDA is a creativity-stifling institution, like a village well that curbs progressive thinking. You deserve a table and a chair there.

This as I see is an effect. But for that there has to be a cause, and what is that? As I have often observed, now a days parents often can be seen giving their smart phones to even kids. At times to keep the kid with them, they use the smart phone as a ploy. But what does it do to the children? With the kind of garbage in social media today, young kids who get exposed pollute their consciousness with negative illustrations of Nama Rupa or Names and Forms. Nama is (feelings, perceptions, thoughts, touch and contemplation) Rupa is (Form-perception). These Nama and Rupa are the forerunners to mind. The negative illustrations cause kids to have negative thoughts and it is these that are the cause for what is happening,

In a rat race society from a very young age two things draw most attention of youngsters - instant thrills and kicks. They have a very narrow view of life and this world. They erupt into hysteria at the slightest of disappointments and only extract joy out of instant pleasures and tastes irrespective of risks and dangers. The religious leaders, teachers, parents and peers should try and instil ways of perceiving matters in a broader perspective and develop self awareness among our young to stem this waste of young lives.

For sure both these young students are up to drugs. IGP promised to stop using drugs completely but still it is going on. Full investigations should be conducted to find the real reason.

Approximately 100 students reportedly attended the party. How can accident or foul play be ruled out under these circumstances? At the same time, the Health Ministry should take proactive measures to educate stakeholders about the factors contributing to the rise in suicides in Sri Lanka and how to address this issue effectively. Regarding the increase in teen suicides, several factors are particularly significant and addressing these factors comprehensively by relevant stakeholders could help mitigate the risk factors contributing to teen suicides. 1. Financial Stress in Families: Economic challenges such as job losses or reduced income have heightened familial tensions, impacting teens' mental well-being. 2. Academic Pressure: Postponed exams, have significantly increased stress levels among teens. 3. School Favoritism: Instances where students feel consistently overlooked despite their achievements can profoundly affecting their mental health leading to suicidal thoughts Zak

Parents have FAILED. They should have been more vigilant about their children and keeping a check on them. Parents are now too "busy" concentrating on many other things than having an eye on their children. We are all running a RAT RACE, and these sad tragedies are bound to happen continuously. Its useless blaming others. PARENTS HAVE FAILED. period.

It is so sad to hear two young lives taken away. I do not know who should take the blame but surely we have to be more closer to the children nowadays than before. We need to be watching every step of theirs. It is a very cruel society we live in. God help the parents and their loved ones at this time of difficulty.

These comments are the problem of Sri Lanka, everyone is talking about it with no sense of empathy, which is crazy honestly and it just pissed the heck out of me to see the stigma thats faced for those with mental health issues. Educate yourselves its not that hard and if you aren't going to say anything that shows empathy then just keep it to yourself. No one and I mean absolutely no one wants to hear about YOU in this comment section and yes we don't give a damn about you just shut up if its nothing relevant and it is definitely not phones. smh.

Unfortunate deaths Wednesday, 03 July 2024 12:39 PM
A reminiscent event unfolded in Bambalapitiya a year ago, involving a student from the same school who tragically took their own life. Regrettably, three more young lives have now been lost, Despite the school being favored by influential figures, there have been reports of negative incidents associated with it. Parents too acknowledge their responsibility in the unfortunate deaths of these two individuals. The actual cause of these tragic losses remains unknown until the post-mortem results are disclosed. There is a concern that these occurrences might be kept private to avoid public scrutiny.

Save valuable police resources and call off the investigation. Commenting aunties and uncles of Daily Mirror articles with extensive knowledge and experience have carried out the investigation. "Unruly teenagers of affluent parents at a drug party commuted suicide as an act of rebellion"... aunties and uncles concluded in the final report.
