Colombo, March 05 (Daily Mirror) - Tensions erupted near the University of Colombo as police resorted to tear gas and water cannons to disperse protesting students.

The incident occurred shortly after reports surfaced of a road closure in front of the university premises due to the demonstration organized by a group of university students.

Furthermore, severe traffic congestion also gripped the area as the protesting students initiated a protest march.

Lesson to PROTESTORS, do not block roads. I cannot understand why PROTESTORS have to disrupt others going about their day to day activities, this sort of DEMONSTRATIONS AND/OR PROTESTS will NOT serve the cause, it will ONLY put people off and gather NO SUPPORT for the CAUSE. PROTESTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE PEACEFUL TO GATHER PEOPLES SUPPORT.

By now these morons should know that the police will tear gas and water cannon them during a protest. Just a waste of time as eventually it will be broken up. Should think out of the box being Uni students and protest accordingly.
