Public trust in political authority, public service crucial for country’s development: PM



Colombo, September 25 (Daily Mirror)- Claiming that the government never considers public service as insignificant, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya said today that public trust in political authority and publc service is crucial for the nation-building.

Addressing the staff of the Prime Minister's office, she said the country cannot be developed without public trust on public services, state mechanisms and political authority. 

"Public trust in the political authority and public services is crucial for the nation-building, which is lacking in our country. People have negative attitudes towards politicians and the public services. A public notion has been created that political authority and public services are useless. We never think public service is insignificant," she said.

The Prime Minister said the government's aim is to create a strong, efficient and people-focused public service.
