RW asks SJB, NPP to withdraw proposals on public sector salaries
Colombo, September 3 (Daily Mirror)- The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the National People's Power (NPP) should retract the proposals in their policy statements regarding increasing the public servants' salaries, as this task has already been accomplished, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said.
He made these remarks at a rally held today (03) at Pelmadulla.

If he has fulfilled these promises at east before two months people would have voted for him. At that time he said no funds available for these increases etc. After 21st he will not be in power then how he will accomplish these promises. Govt.servants will not fall prey for these empty promises

If RW increased before two months JVP would have hoodwinked the people that salary increase occurred because of their protest against the government that resorted to pressure on the government to increase of the salary

We remember how he treated us when we ask for an increment few months back. He said the VAT will be 25% or something if he increase the salary. Now suddenly he's got funds to increase the salaries magically.

AKD reacted today on President Ranil "s salary increased that it would be impractical. That mean they won't/can't do that. Even in AKD"s dream world as dream president can't be imaginable to increase the salary. In this scenario government servants will decide to whom they shuld vote for.

Before you go make fuel prices as low as possible as you will loose this election anyway. Make it close to hundred rupees. Also move tax barrier upto 250000. This way any other party that comes to power will struggle within 6 months and loose power. Then you will get the opportunity once again. Use your brain.

The government servants resorted to the trade union actions demanding the salary hikes few months ago at that time they were treated with tear gas and water cannons. This gentleman then said that due to the prevailing financial crisis that the government was not in to increase the salary increases being demanded by the government until the economy was restored to the normalcy But we are in dilemma as to how the president decides the salary increases of the government officers at once.As we believe that this may be a violation of the election act when the postal voting about is about to be commenced tomorrow

No one thought of questioning SJB or NPP leaders when they said they will increase the Salary, That is since they dont trust what they say but still think of voting for those 2. When RW says he will increase the salary and provide details they say all lies. So how will you call the Sri Lankans. In 2015 when he came as PM he gave 10,000 hv you forgotten.

@Tissa - Very surprised with your comments Tissa who is anti NPP. Btw, what’s your opinion about overhauling the Visa system which was running efficiently? Was there a need to engage VFS at a time when the country is Bankrupt? Also, the amount spent to engage them was hastily passed by the cabinet without proper oversights from professionals. Is this way of governance plus all other deals which the public is unaware acceptable with you ?

Ranil, If increasing public servants' salaries has already been accomplished, who got paid these new salaries? Until the increased salaries are physically paid and how the provisions for these payments are made transparent, eg. increasing VAT or other public taxes ect., yours is still a proposal on paper just like what the SJB and NPP are making. You have no authority to make a request on the SJB or NPP for withdrawal of their proposals as a candidate. In the end all these are election promises.

It is you who should withdraw as it is an election law violation. You could say after winning you would do such and such things but not before using government power after you declared candidacy. Why Elections Commission is not doing something about this? They should go to court or declare RW candidacy is null and void due to violation of election law.
