Colombo, March 11 (Daily Mirror) - The month of Ramadan fasting begins for the Muslim community in Sri Lanka from tomorrow (12) as the new crescent moon has been sighted, the Colombo Grand Mosque said.
Muslims worldwide will observe a month of fasting and prayers during Ramadan, commemorating the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed on the night of 'Laylat Al Qadr'.
Fasting during Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
