Rauff Hakeem flays officials for not taking action to streamline visa processing

Colombo, August 09 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) leader MP Rauff Hakeem referred to Daily Mirror lead news story headlined ‘SL IMMIGRATION HANDICAPPED IN ON- ARRIVAL VISA PROCESSING’, criticised the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration and the Secretary to the Public Security Ministry for alleged sabotaging of visa processing

Making his remarks during a debate in the House, he chastised the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, holding him responsible and the Ministry of Law and Order officials for the deliberate delay in migrating to the Electronic Travel Platform previously run by Mobitel in keeping with the SC interim order.

He made reference to a letter addressed to Harsha Ilukpitiya, Controller General and Copied to the Attorney General and warned that as Respondents in the Cases filed by him and several others including the stakeholders of the travel trade who have collectively signed the letter severe consequences will flow if they continue with their deliberate disregard for the order of court.

Sl should follow the system of the West,by firing these officials for not carrying out these responsiibilities. Set an example to other irresponsible Govt officials. Our country has suffered enough with these corrupt Govt servants.

At least the immigration department can invoke the business continuity plan (BCP) when the IT systems are non operational. That is assuming that there was one to begin with.
