Though the police curfew has been imposed only in 18 police areas in Gampaha District, the risk and danger of COVID-19 spread prevail across the island, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He urged public to wear face masks and adhere to health guidelines.
Meanwhile, DIG Rohana said that according to health and intelligence unit statistics, several employees attached to the BRANDIX factory in Minuwangoda are to be traced to undergo quarantine.
He said nearly 125 employees at BRANDIX reported to respective police stations and to health officials yesterday for quarantine process and 275 workers reported on Wednesday.
“Yesterday was the final day for apparel workers to volunteer themselves to quarantine. Strict action will be taken against those who continue to avoid quarantine process under the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance,” he said.
DIG Rohana said moveable and immovable property of such people will also be seized. He said the curfew imposed in 18 police areas in the Gampaha district would continue until further notice.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
