Rs. 23 mn paid to Sri Lanka Railways for Indo-Lankan film shoot



Colombo, October 10 (Daily Mirror) - A total Rs. 23 million was paid by the NE Commercial Group of Companies (Pvt) Ltd. to the Sri Lanka Railway Department for shooting a film as a joint Indo-Sri Lankan cinema project, Railways Deputy General Manager (DGM) N.J. Indipolage said.

Therefore, the train services between Colombo Fort and Badulla have been limited to the Ella station till October 15.

As a result, train services between these stations have been restricted daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from last morning.

The decision, approved by the Transport Ministry, comes as filming takes place on the Nine Arches Bridge between the Ella and Demodara railway stations.

Indipolage said that buses will be assigned for passenger transport between Ella and Bandarawela railway stations till October 15.

The Odyssey train running from Colombo Fort to Badulla has been restricted to the Ella railway station on October 10, 11, 12 and 14.

The Odyssey train running from Badulla to Colombo will also start from the Ella railway station during that time.

The Railways Department says that the joint Indo-Sri Lankan cinema project will be done with the approval of the Transport Ministry as the film will attract tourists after its screening.
