President's senior advisor on climate change, Ruwan Wijewardene, accompanied by the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Kenya Kana Kananathan, held a highly productive meeting today with Secretary General of the Commonwealth Patricia Scotland KC.
The meeting took place this morning in Nairobi, on the sidelines of the Africa Climate Summit.
Wijewardene who is representing the President in the climate summit conveyed the warm greetings and well wishes of President Ranil Wickremasinghe to the Secretary General Patricia Scotland and reiterated Sri Lanka's strong commitment to the principles and values upheld by the Commonwealth.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and the Commonwealth. The discussions at this high-level meeting revolved around Sri Lanka's commitment to global efforts to combat climate change and the Commonwealth Secretary General's commendation of President Ranil Wickremasinghe’s visionary leadership in this regard. The Secretary-General recognized Sri Lanka's unwavering dedication to addressing one of the most pressing challenges facing the world today.
