Not everything a representative of the UNP says has to be completely out of touch with reality or fundamentally wrong! There may not be another presidential election in two years, but I also think it is entirely conceivable that the person who will soon become the new president, whether AKD or Sajith, will have to admit that his policies have failed two years later!!! Neither of them has the stature or the necessary skills to lead a country that will still have to contend with extraordinary difficulties and burdens in the future!!! If you also look at the very different political and economic programs as set out in the manifestos of both parties, then a successful presidency is in no way guaranteed!!! A large proportion of voters in both parties could be making a huge misjudgment with regard to a permanent (radical) policy change!!!

I agree with it. If Anura wins, the fate will be similar to Gotabhaya, Anura will NOT be able to steer the economic woes and there will be a strong public backlash and rhe Govt. will collapse. Sri Lanka is unable to apply for any assistance from IMF until 2027 and Anura will have to strictly abide by the rules imposed by IMF until then.
